Update

1) A total of 96 bills have now been pre-filed.  The latest version of the matrix is attached.

(2) The following bills are significant:

SB 42:  Revises provisions related to justices of the peace.

Existing law requires the board of county commissioners of each county to fix the compensation for justices of the peace in July of any year in which an election  of justices of the peace is held. (NRS 4.040) This bill revises the date for the board of county commissioners of each county to fix the compensation for justices of the peace from July of any year in which an election of justices of the peace is held to December of any year immediately preceding a year in which an election of justices of the peace is held.

Section 1. NRS 4.040 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1. The several boards of county commissioners of each county, at the regular meeting in [July] December of any year immediately preceding a year in which an election of justices of the peace is held, shall fix the minimum compensation of the justices of the peace within their respective townships for the ensuing term, either by stated salaries, payable monthly, semimonthly or at regular 2-week intervals, or by fees, as provided by law, or both, and they may thereafter increase or change such compensation during the term but shall not reduce it below the minimum so established.

2. If it becomes necessary to appoint a justice of the peace at any time, the board of county commissioners in the county in which such appointment is made shall fix the compensation, either by salary or by fees, as provided by law, or both, for the term for which the justice of the peace is appointed.

Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.

SB 40:  Revises provisions relating to the registration of child custody determinations and support orders from outside Nevada.

SB 34:  Makes various changes relating to the support of children

SB 18:  Makes various changes relating to bail bonds.

SB 17:  Revises provisions governing payday lending.

AB 42:  Revises various provisions relating to public records.

AB 28:  Revises provisions relating to the Commission on Judicial Discipline.

AB 25:  Revises provisions relating to certain allowable deductions from the period of probation or sentence of a person.

AB 21:  Makes various changes relating to elections.
