Carson City, Nevada, April 24, 2017. The Nevada Association of Court Executives (NACE), a professional organization that promotes quality court management and leadership through education, best practices, and process improvements, named Maxine Cortes as its 2016 Court Executive of the Year. Ms. Cortes is the Court Administrator for the First Judicial District Court and the Carson City Justice/Municipal Court. She has held this position since November 2006.
Randall Soderquist, President of the Nevada Association of Court Executives and Court Administrator for Elko Township Justice Court and City of Elko Municipal Court presented the award to Ms. Cortes at the Carson City Courthouse on Monday, April 24, 2017. In his remarks, Mr. Soderquist shared the sentiments of NACE Board Members in his overview of Ms. Cortes. “Max is the person to call when you have a question whether you are in the District Court, Justice Court or Municipal Court. She is never too busy and provides assistance to colleagues throughout the state. She is not only extremely knowledgeable but a great friend.”
The respect and support given to Ms. Cortes were visible during the award ceremony. Members of the bench, court employees, colleagues, and family joined together to celebrate her accomplishments, leadership and statewide recognition.
